The police in Lagos are on the trail of a teenage orphaned girl, Taiwo Olakunle, 18, who allegedly ran away from home with a suspected lover. Her case is the second of such in six weeks. On 4th of December, Ezennia Chikwuo, 13, also left her house with a man, believably her
lover, and had since not returned. Taiwo, was staying with her aunt’s family, the Lawals, on Adeosun Street, Balogun in the Iju area of Lagos.
She had only been brought from Ondo State, where she was staying idle, in July 2014 and was enrolled in November 2014 as an apprentice in a hair dressing salon. However, on November 11 while at the salon, she was reportedly beaten up by a gang of street boys who claimed she intruded into their discussion.
The matter was reported to the Iju Police Division, and the police arrested Olakunle’s suspected assaulters. When she came back from the hospital, the following day, however, she was said to have packed her belongings and sneaked out of the house with a man.
About a week ago, two people said they saw her at different locations with men. They didn’t call her because they didn’t know she was being searched for.
