Police arrest kidnapper’s wife to achieve abductee’s release

Mercy Okachi, a mother-of-five, was arrested over the abduction of a youth leader in Ubima, River State, after a ransom of N10m was traced to the house of her husband, Kendiri Okachi, who is currently on
the run. The abductee eventually regained his freedom after Mercy was arrested.

The State Police Public Relations Officer, Ahmad Mohammad, said that the N10m ransom was tracked to Kendiri’s house. He added that the money was retrieved along with an AK-47 rifle with 14 rounds of live ammunition. The victim, who thanked God for saving his life, said he became temporarily deaf after receiving so much beating from his abductors.
