Ejiofor Eliezer (46), Obah Francis (30), Akpa Sobuzochukwu (27) and Ike Okechukwu (36) were trying to smuggle the drugs to Brazil. Eliezer, who excreted just 100 wraps of the drug, and was promised to be paid N200k after a successful trip, said
poverty pushed him to commit the crime without his consent.
Okechukwu, who dropped out of school in JSS 2, said he did not think that he would be arrested because he only swallowed 5 wraps. Francis said he took to drug trafficking to augment the meager salary he earned at a bakery in Brazil. Akpa, a diploma in accounting holder, said his poor salary as a cleaner forced him to ingest 26 wraps for a fee of about N285k…… Akpa added dt his plan was to use part of d money to open a small bank in Nigeria since he has a knowledge of accounting……
