Anita Otema, 22, from Ghana, has lost her left eye while major parts of her body were also severely burnt from an acid attack on her by her ex-boyfriend. Anita said her ex-lover’s action was motivated by a pastor. A few days to her ordeal, she said her
ex- boyfriend, Kwabena Fosu, who is now on the run, told her a pastor had revealed to him that she was behind his recurrent ill-health.
Kwabena claimed the pastor had revealed to him that she (Anita) was making money spiritually through his frequent sicknesses. Angered by this ‘spiritual diagnosis’ of the cause of his ill-health, Kwabena walked into her at dawn and poured acid on her while she was asleep.
The Director of National Reconstructive Plastic Surgery and Burns Centre at the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital, where Anita is receiving treatment says the hospital receives about 8 of such cases annually and about 90% of victims are women…. and for those accusing her of still being able to do d “shoki” pose despite her condition, Anita said she was jst covering her face to maintain her anonymity n it has nothing to do wt d popular dance……
