Speaker Yakubu Dogara, a lawyer, had an embarrassing gaffe on Twitter yesterday by showing that he isn’t conversant with the Nigerian laws, while trying to justify why the National Assembly (NASS) hasn’t joined the
Treasury Single Account (TSA).
Dogara had said the Minister of Finance is the Chair of the CBN Governing Board and that’s is why he feels the TSA, which is domiciled at the CBN, isn’t safe for NASS as the TSA isn’t independent of the executive arm of government and NASS is part the legislative arm.
He was quickly called to order by my Nigerians who told him that the CBN governor is the Chair of the CBN Governing Board. Dogara later admitted his error, after prolonged grandstanding….. n is now considering tendering his resignation as d Speaker of d House…..
