Chidera, a 17-year-old houseboy, is currently in hospital battling with burns he sustained after his boss’ wife, Mrs. Angela Achilefu, poured hot water on him at their residence on Akinola Street, Gemade Estate, Ipaja, Lagos. She
poured the hot water on him for coming back late from an errand she sent him on Thursday.
She had sent Chidera to open her cosmetics shops in the Egbeda and Gowon Estate for her sales girls around 8am, giving him N100 as transport fare instead of N200. From their street to the (Gemade) estate gate costs N50 by bike. And from the gate to her first shop in Egbeda is another N50. So Chidera trekked to the shop in Gowon Estate, some miles from Egbeda, and did same while returning home because the fare was not enough.
He got back home at about 9am. Angered by the lateness, Angela took the boiling water she wanted to use to prepare tea and splashed it on him. She was arrested but released 3 hours later. Her release led to outcry by residents of the estate prompting her to be re-arrested. The Lagos police spokesperson, DSP Patricia Amadin, said Angela is now in the police custody. Chidera was brought to Lagos about 3 years ago from Abia State, where Angela also hails from….. God saved her dt she had a reason to punish him. If not, she’d av being in a more serious problem…..
