40-year-old Monday Okon Inyang, from Calabar was arrested while attempting to sell his son, David Monday Inyang, for the sum of N100k to an Alhaji at Bogobiri, Calabar. While pretending to be interested in the proposal, Alhaji struck
a deal with Okon. With the agreement reached, he told him to wait briefly for him to get to the bank to make a withdrawal. He then got the Police to arrest him.
David recounted how he had voluntarily confessed to his father that he was a wizard and appealed to him for forgiveness for all the trouble he had caused him while under the influence of the evil spirit. While speaking with journalists, Okon said: “I don’t know what came over me. I am still dazed. My wife left me in 2005 and abandoned our 4 children, when I had a major problem.
David confessed to me that he was a wizard and the cause of my agony in life. I should have forgiven him. As a concerned father, I took him to various places to cure him. I pray that my son would forgive me for the evil thing I tried to do. Really, I don’t know what happened to me and I decided to sell him for N100k.”….. instead of N150k…..
