Olumide Ogunnubi, who collapsed while rescuing a victim that drowned in a well, is dead. Olumide, who was attached to the Ikotun Fire Station, had collapsed in a well at Ijegun while bringing out Tobi Akintoye, a plumber. Tobi was digging a well for

the residents when he became suffocated and drowned.

Lagos State firefighters were called to rescue him. Olumide was let down with a rope into the well by other firefighters to bring Tobi out. He was being drawn up when the rope around his waist suddenly snapped. He then fell back into the well. He was later rescued by other firefighters and rushed to the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital. Olumide, who joined the fire service in 2008, died from the injuries he sustained during the incident….. R.I.P to him…..
